My car originally came with 16" Viking rims. I had to throw them out in about a year. Slow leaks gradually turned themselves into a major plague. When I tried to do anything about that I was told the rims were not repairable. I switched to Moda R1 17". It's been two years now, and not a single problem. By lifting the moda rim, I can tell that it is a lot heavier than Viking. I hope it is stronger. I wonder if anyone can actually measure the strength of a wheel against deformations and post the results for people to know?

The only problem is that these wheels make the car feel a lot stiffer.

On my older SAAB, I have steel rims. I did not like them a first, but now I am beginning to appreciate them. It's been 5 years now -- not a single problem. And I've ridden through some nasty potholes in them.
They also feel much more confortable than 17". They do not look like much ... If only I could find some nice-looking plastic covers, I would switch back to steel rims in a second.
