Using regular in itself is unlikely to cause carbon buildup. Most common cause is plenty of short distance driving. When you start it car it dumps tons of fuel in on startup and then continues to run rich until warm. If there is bad carbon buildup a top engine cleaner might to the job, but do go with hotter plugs and also once in a while take the car for a decent run to burn off the carbon and get everything up to temperature.
