You are using terminology that is confusing and it it hard to guess what you are talking about.
?I had trouble locating the turbo silencer...?
?Disconnecting filter tubing from filter?
What do you mean my ?unaccounted for?
If you remove the 1" BPV return hose, the BOV is open at idle and at engine overrun, and the engine will take in unfiltered air. If you put a small fitler on it then it would be ok. Block the opening at the other end of the hose which you would remove.
If you remove the correcgated flex duct that goes to the filter, you will damage the engine with dirt.
Do an air box duct mod and there will be plenty to hear.
Remove the turbo discharge silencer from the hard pipe that goes from the turbo to the IC inlet below the battery. If your IC inlet is on the other side of the vehicle, there is none to be removed. If you go to remove and don't find it there, these were phased out on 1999 production.
