our 2000 9-3 conv. and 2002 aero each use the bumper mounted one, and I like it a lot, actually better range than with the windshield mounted one in a car with non-reflective glass....and one less thing on the windshield.
plus, rumour has it that the expass can affect radar detector performance based on where you place them, and what you use.
