Glad to hear your daughter's got paid off.
My wife's car is also an used '01 9-3 (but not Saab CPO) that's still under its original Saab warranty until later this year.
Before it expires, we have an option to buy an after-market extended warranty from Wynn's (http://www.wynnspaig.com/) for $2500 that covers bumper-to-bumper with $0-deductable that lasts 7yrs (until 2012 for us) or 100K (whichever comes first). That's about $360/yr of peace-of-mind "insurance" for the next 7yrs. (Is this a good deal?)
Is Wynn's a reputable company that most likely will stay in biz for a while, by the way?
Considering we've gotten the noisy/creaking/rattling sunroof replace (free/warranty) and the faulty side rear-view adjuster unit replace already, I think we may as well go ahead and get it for the Saab. (My old used '90 9000-T had so many prob's till I had to get rid of it, in order to avoid going broke!)
I wouldn't get it for a Japanese car, but I will for a Saab. I absolutely love how Saab drives, but Saab costs a lot when things (often?) breaks down. ;-)
