The directional controls (vent, floor, dash) and fan speed all work; it's just the automatic temperature control that doesn't seem very responsive. It can crank out the heat; I just have to put it to max temp. Set at 82 degrees (highest auto setting), the cabin never gets very warm (maybe 66 or 68 degrees). I'd like to be able to heat the interior a bit warmer, and this temperature isn't enough to de-ice a window.
My previous description of the temp. guage was perhaps a bit cryptic. It never moves from the dead cold position. Like, as if it were disconnected.
Is there a sensor separate from the thermostat that drives the temperature guage? I'd originally imagined it like an ohm meter reading a thermocouple, but then I read something about the techII adjusting the size of the "dead zone" at the 9 o'clock position, so the signal must route through the computer.
