My turbo was replaced at 84k miles. At the time, I was told to watch for several things could happen that might require an adjustment or reason to take it back. I never had to, but for what it is worth:
One was adjusting the wastegate actuator. Another was the hoses from the BPC valve to the turbo (mine are ok, but I understand leaks can develop there after re-installation, just due to age). Vacuum lines cracking. Turbo hose leaks.
The long vacuum line which runs forward to the turbo bypass valve was dried out and replaced at the same time. I recently replaced all the lines, some for the second time in this car, so it seems the rubber hoses last 3-5 years, at least for me.
Air leaks from turbo intake and outlet hoses and clamps. My hoses had some small cracks (if not leaks) at the time the turbo was replaced, and some time later I found a crack in the intercooler plastic end tank which had to be fixed with epoxy. If an air leak develops, some of the boost air escapes, acceleration is off, and the boost gauge does not go all the way to the edge fo the red zone.
Since then I also had a dirty BPC (boost pressure control) valve which caused overboost/fuel cuts, and was cleaned with compressed air (less than an hour in the shop, incl. test drive by the mechanic). Depending on what sticks in the valve, apparently it can cause overboost or low boost.
Good luck, and out of curiosity, why did the turbo have to be replaced for a second time?
