I just bought a 2000 9-3 SE CVT and had the head gasket bolts torqued to be sure. Mechanic (from a recommended Saabnet posting) said they were loose. The date of manufacture of my car was April 2000, so I'd recommend that if you have a 2000, you pay for the $150 retorque as insurance against the more serious wear Dean mentions. I did mine at 60k service.
