No, I didn't do any preliminary baseline tests 'cuz the car had only 45k miles on it & was running well. After these results, I'd highly recommend Auto-Rx to all Saab owners.
What kind of oil have you been using? With 100k mi on your car, I'd suggest doing a double-plus length of Auto-Rx clean (normal is 1,500 miles, so 3k-4k mi & change the filter in the middle) & then a 3k-4k mi rinse (again changing the filter 1/2 way). Use Shell's Rotella Synthetic 5W-40 (probably the best Group III oil) for full cleaning benefit.
After that, use either Mobil 1 15W-50 (first choice) or 5W-40 (cold-climate choice) exclusively, along with Purolator PureOne oil filters. (The usual recommendations for comparable Amsoil full PAO oils applies here.) I feel anything less than 4%-5% fuel dilution is of minimal impact on the lubrication properties of these premium full syn oils. If you've got tons of short trips, errands & city driving (like us) & can't stand the thought of what's going on in the oil, change the oil filter at 5k mi intervals for fresh deposit-trapping capabilities & 3/4 qt fresh premium full syn.
