Well, it's actually fairly easy in a newer car like your Saab. (I learned in a datsun 240z with a heavy non-power assisted clutch & brakes with a tempermental non-syncro'd 1st gear). I survived, and so will you.
Practice on a flat road at first until you get used to slipping the clutch. Don't overrev, don't underrev and stall it (it will happen btw, so don't get too embarrased about it). Basically, get to the point where you smoothly take off instead of lurching foward. My dad's test was a full glass of water between your legs: you should not get wet if you are doing it right :)
Once you get used to that, practice some starts on a incline until you are comfortable with it. Hills with traffic on your bumper will be your most nerve racking, so that will take the most time to practice it to the point where the car doesn't slip backwards. Some folks use the emergency brake to hold the car in place until the clutch starts engaging, and luckily the saab has a hand brake that is ideal for this practice.
Good luck and don't worry about it too much...
Once you master "normal methods", we can talk about heel-toe, archaic double-clutching and proper rev matching downshifts :)
