Hi all, I’m small independent dealer and over years I sold numerous 9-5’s and 9-3’s. Lately I have bad luck with 9-3’s, this year I had about 10 of them, and it seems to me that every fifth have engine sludge. I already replaced one 9-3 engine this year, and I don’t really like to repeat such experience. No I have 2002 9-3 SE with about 59K on the clock, when I bought it from Saab Finance it seems alright, it drive fine, and engine did not make any noises. I send it to the shop to do oil change, and engine flush (Mobil 1 synthetic oil & Saab filter). After oil change and flush it starts to make noises, it seems too me that chain was making those noises, while other at my work argue that it was turbocharger. Anyway, we took valve cover off and here are the pictures of what we discovered. Is this engine sludged badly? What is best way to desludge it? I will appreciate any imput.
