As long as you do the different services at a good Saab independant it's nothing wrong to pay A LOT less for the 40K service.
Car manufacturers (not only Saab) hides an oil change and check up under many fancy names (5K, 10K, 15K, Intermediate service and so on) and makes a fortune on it.
But one caution though, what you don't get at a BAD shop and quick lube places is knowledge about service bulletins and recalls.
A professional Saab independant shop usually knows whats going on and keeps up with new things that comes up. Keeping an eye on this Saab board helps a lot in learning about failure trends, service bulletins and recalls.
My service recommendations are, major service every 30K miles and oil changes with safety check up every 5K miles. No other "services" are needed.
