It's called a "fuel cut". The boost gets too high because the BPC is not doing its job. The car computer (ECU) interrupts the flow of fuel to the engine for a moment. Then the fuel is restored and car seems to lurch forward. Can happen two-three times in a row before it stabilizes again.
Most common cause (unless you have made mods to increase the boost), is a dirty or failing BPC (boost pressure control) solenoid valve. My mechanic cleaned mine (blew it out using compressed air), and problem was fixed. A new one is around $200 on eEuroparts.com, but usually blowing the crud out of the ports does the job. Some people clean them out with solvent, but I never tried that.
If one of the hoses connected to it cracks or clogs up, you can have the same symptom, but that is unlikely on a car with 41k miles.
Search for "fuel cut" or "BPC" here or on the NG900 board for more info (early 9-3 models have the same issues as the NG900).
