On my '99 SE I only added fluid but heres what I did.
1) clean around top of trans. Could move power steering resevoir if you want to. Don't disconnect.
loosen plug to trans fluid(22mm?)
2) jack up drivers side and remove wheel. Allen bit required to remove trans level plug. It is hard to get in there. I used a huge extension and a swivel thing b/w bit and extension. It was also really hard to break loose. I think they but that blue stuff on the threads.
3)This is where I lowered car to normal level and topped off. To get it at normal level I put a snow tire on steel wheel down and a 2x4 on top of that and placed this under the jacking point by drivers tire. rested the car on this.
You would then go to drain plug and remove that. Then fill until it comes out of the check level hole or until it takes 1.8 liters of fluid.
I am a sluggo back yard mechanic. Good luck
