Clutch or clutch cable?

I've been having some problem with my 97' 900s std trans 95k. On flat surface i'll clutch and go into first waiting in traffic at a standstill. The clutch seems to not be totally engaged, because the car creeps forward, even with the clutch floored. Also, some folks with saabs have noticed that the clutch is pretty stiff. Furthermore, I snapped a clutch cable at about 70k. All these things point to 1st new clutch for the car. Is it possible to adjust the cable to take more out of the clutch? Ideas. Thanks ladies and fellas. Ian
