Well, after looking at dozens of pics of Viggens online, and finally finding some pics of mine from last summer, I realized that the extra space was pretty much normal ... for some reason I thought the tires should be almost at the fenders, but that's not the case.
That said, the ride is *somewhat* higher, maybe that 1/4" they said Bilsteins could raise the car, because I'm no longer scraping the front air dam every time I exit a parking lot. I don't think it was scraping before due to worn out stock shocks, because I was going virtually 0 MPH and there was little brake loading of the front end.
I might still prefer more lowering, but as time goes on and I get used to what it's at now, I'm not sure I'll care to pay the cost of getting another set of shocks whose ultimate characteristics are unknown. That's the same price as a new intercooler from MP Performance! :-D
The ride is of course more firm that before, but that's no surprise as the old shocks had 60K miles on them. I couldn't say how that compares to *new* stock shocks as I got the car at 36K miles. Even if I had it new, I wouldn't remember what it was like 5 years ago! That's the trouble with mods you do every many years where the removed component is worn out. Almost *anything* you put on after that is gonna feel great! (Read the reviews on TireRack about how the new set of XYZ tires are *so quiet!* compared to the worn-out ones they took off ... duh! :-P)
Thx for all your advice. I'll post a complete review of the front-end torque-steer reducing mods soon. :o)
