OK, I see a couple more threads about scheduled maintenance. Here goes another FAQ for the first-generation 9³; which means '99 thru '02, plus '03 convertible.
This is a list of the scheduled maintenance, right out of the USA owner's manual for a 2001 9³. I believe it should be about the same for '99 through '02.
In USA & Canada all 9³ cars had turbocharged gasoline engines. Maybe someone can tell me about anything that's different for other engines. I believe there was a diesel engine available somewhere, or naturally-aspirated engines?
Engine Oil & Filter:
Change every 10k miles (16k km), or once per year.
For 'severe service' change every 5k miles (8k km), or twice per year.
Inspect/adjust these things at every service (10k miles or 16k km):
Coolant level & freezing point; inspect coolant hoses & cap.
Accessory drive belt.
Fuel system - leaks & damage.
Exhaust system & hangers - leaks & damage.
Battery state-of-charge & electrolyte level.
Light bulbs - head, fog, brake, tail, turn, instruments, etc...
Automatic transmission fluid level & condition.
Driveshaft boots.
Ball joints & steering joints - check clearance & boots.
Tire pressure, wear, including spare. Alignment if tire wear indicates.
Rotate tires.
Inspect brake pads & disks. Clean rear "if necessary".
Inspect brake lines & hoses.
Inspect brake fluid level. (DOT4 fluid)
Check parking brake function.
Check power steering fluid level. (CHF11S fluid)
Door hinges, stops, locks.
Airbag system, SRS lamp, seatbelts.
Wiper blades, washers, washer fluid.
Road test = check drivetrain, steering, brakes, tire balance, noises...
Every 20k miles (32k km):
Includes everything from the 10k list... plus:
Replace cabin air filter.
Adjust headlight & foglight aiming.
Every 30k miles (48k km):
Includes everything from the 10k list... plus:
Replace spark plugs. (NKG PFR6H-10)
Replace engine air filter.
Change automatic transmission fluid for "severe service". (Mineral-based Dexron III)
Check shock absorbers & bushings, tightness & condition.
Check/adjust toe. (Other alignment angles "not adjustable")
Lubricate door hinges, stops, locks.
Every 40k miles (64k km):
Includes everything from the 10k & 20k lists... plus:
Flush & replace coolant (max 3 years).
Replace brake fluid (max 2 years). (DOT4 fluid)
Every 60k miles (96k km):
Includes everything from the 10k, 20k, & 30k lists... plus:
Replace accessory drive belt.
Inspect crancase ventilation & vacuum hoses.
Inspect EVAP system - gas cap, vapor lines, charcoal can, & valves.
Replace fuel filter.
Change automatic transmission fluid. (mineral-based Dexron III)
Check manual transmission fluid level. (special synthetic)
You notice most of this stuff is inspections. They don't schedule stuff like brakes by mileage, because they last 20k for some people, 90k for others. Like tires, it depends way too much on how & where you drive.
