I put a Speedparts Stage 1 upgrade in my 9-5 Aero last night. Their instructions for quick adaptation of the ECU is (manual transmission only); (sic) "Run the car to the normal temperture. Run the car four times from 2000 to 4500 rpm on the fourth gear at full throttle. The ECU has now adapted. Not valid for cars with automatic gearbox." (If you want to do this on a car with the existing ECU, see the bit below about resetting the program.)
For automatic gearbox, they say the car will adapt in 3 days of normal driving on whatever gas you are using (Speedparts askes for 98 RON - 93 is what that translates to on the west side of the Atlantic). If you want to get it as hot as it will go, fill up with premium until you get the cheaper stuff cleaned out. Then disconnect the the battery for 15 minutes so the ECU loses its current program. Then go out for the next few days driving like crazy or run it up a hill a couple of times with all the throttle it will take like Taliaferro says. That should do it.
