The reason I asked is because over the last two years or so folks have been posting, here is the fix for the leak, here is the TSB, No, dont do it, it makes things worse? No, go back to original setup. And now you have a newer one. Does the little white check valve tend to plug more easily? I have replaced mine at 46k and at 60k as it was plugged up both times. Never had this pluggage happen on my 94 SE
which uses a similar diameter check valve. It just disintigrated from heat after 10 years or so.
Low friction engine, softer rings, looser tolerances? Seems to coincide with Saab's spec for synthetic oil on these newer cars. Have you observed a reduction in compression with the newer cars, 00 and up?
This makes sense, and this is why everyone is having hell with CCV and oil leaks and probably contributes to the sludge issue as well. One would think these engines will not last as long even with premium, clean synthetic oil. Would a higher viscosity like say a 10w50 or 20w50 be a better choice under the circumstances?
