Okay, immediately after my post I did some more archive-mining and learned about recalibration. I set ACC to AUTO, simultaneously held down AUTO and OFF, and got a "0". My sense was that for a long time nothing was happening, then at the end, it started changing the air direction (up, down, etc.). Anyway, according to the archives, a "0" with no error codes means a perfect score -- so I don't need a $900 heater box, right ?
So how does it work now ? Well, the outside temp reads at 96 F, and the car is black inside & out, so it's kind of hard to tell. The air is definitely not cold, but it feels like it just *might* be cooler than it was before. I'll have to take her out tonight when it's cool outside to know for sure.
Thanks (to the archives) for the help ;-)
Jeff
