For those of you following my mysterious "car died and won't turn over" over the past couple days in these two posts:

I have an update. I cleaned up the battery terminals and cables. Still wouldn't turn over - it just clicks once. I checked all fuses and relays, had the neighbor come over and help with his voltmeter, and everything checked out OK. We determined that it might be the ignition itself. My key doesn't have the chip in it, but something along those lines - when you turn the key, it's turning on the accessories, but not signaling the starter that it's time to go.

This doesn't explain why I couldn't clutch start it. With a fully-charged battery, it would clutch start for a couple seconds before stalling out. I tried more clutch starting last night being towed around the neighborhood by an Oldsmobile Bravada. My once-powerful Saab has been emasculated in front of the whole neighborhood.

So the big Bravada towed me to the shop. The "Eurotech Mechanic" diagnosed it this morning as a bad starter and will be putting in a new starter in the next few hours. That should get the car to turn over, but who knows if it will just stall out immediately after that.

So I'll keep the board updated. Oh, and Chris F. will have to wait on his 10 virtual email dollars - it's not looking like a grounding problem. It was good thing to clean up the rust, though.
