There's a place 1/4 mile away from me here in New Brighton that did the ultimate diagnosis - J&B Eurotech. For a more Saab-exclusive touch, I've been taking it to Northeast Imports in Maplewood. J&B wasn't optimistic about the idea of a new engine. I talked to John at NE Imports this afternoon and he pointed me towards some engine suppliers, but said labor would be in the $1200 range. So that's pretty steep when you add in the cost of the engine - that puts it somewhere $2200+.

The suspension is questionable on this car and the transmission has already started to fade - reverse is usually tough to get into. So I think its time is up for now. I'm still in grad school with a year to go, so my expensive hobby might have to hibernate in the garage for a year while I tool around in a Ford Contour.
