DONT PUT THAT GREASE ON THE FRICTION SURFACE OF THE PADS!!
What you do is take the caliper back off like you're going to replace the pads again. That grease is for the caliper slide pins, which allow the caliper to slide side-to-side in it's bracket. Also where the pads fit into the caliper bracket. You don't want the pads to be wedged in tightly; they have to release. Sometimes I've had to file the steel backing plate slightly so they don't stick.
The grease lasts OK like this, just be careful & don't get any on the friction surface of the pads or disk. It won't wear off in a day, it'll probably mess up the friction material of the pads...
