I know exactly what you mean and this was my idea at first.
I left the amp where it was and took the cable out. I spliced each speaker into an rca and then tried running the turn on to the amp. I guess the amp needs 4 volts to turn on not the usual 8v or 16v (I cant remember what it is right now). I had the signal, even weaker than it is now and only had to turn on the amp and I went as far as using the dimmer to get as close to 4 volts as possible to turn on the amp but all I got was a click out of the amp. Is it possible to burn out the amp with what I did?
