Weekly shop visits getting old

I have a 1997 900S Conv. and have had a string of problems since we replaced a blown engine with a used engine. My mechanic asked if I wanted a 3, 6 or 12 month warranty on it, I said 6 months. It has been 4 months so far.... and since then, the motor has been fine but I have had to replace the Oxygen Sensor ($300), then two weeks later the diistributor ($75 Used). Also ee also had replaced the clutch in the process and now says we need to replace the clutch cable ($150).
Regarding the Distributor the mechanic (Athens Import, GA) it was spewing a little bit of oil out and messing up the electronics. I feel that therefore the Oxygen Sensor was not really bad. Now, two weeks later, the CHECKENGINE light has come on again. I took it to Advanced Auto and got a diagnostic. It says: P0341, "Camshaft position/ Sensor A - Bank 1 / CKT Range/Perf." Isn't this the distributor again?
My question is this: before my engine problem, things were fine, and now everything seems to be breaking on me. Can this engine swap be the root cause of these problems?
Also: Can I replace this last part myself? I have some tools. I am willing to take my time and figure it out, because it didn't look too difficult by the picture. And I can't afford to take it to the shop anymore....
Thanks.
