Your 97 900 non turbo have the CMP (CaM shaft Position) sensor built into the ignition distributor.
It is not the same as the CKP (CranK shaft Position) sensor which is mounted in the engine block.
You will see many different names for the same sensors since the industry is still struggling to come up with a list for all to follow.
Just take the fuel injection computer. It is called ECU, ECM, PCM, DME and probably something else too by different car manufacturers.
I would first of all check and replace spark plugs, ignition cap, rotor and plug wires and use proper brand for those items. Bosch cap and rotor. Bougicord plug wires and NGK spark plugs.
That fault code could be generated by faulty ignition parts.
Also, if the ignition distributor seems to be leaking oil from within the rotor area you might try to find an independant Saab shop that is familiar with replacing a shaft seal inside.
You won't find Saab dealer doing that since the seal "cannot be replaced" and "no part exist" for that purpose. Only a complete distributor can be bought.
I have managed to find a GM transmission shaft seal that work in that distributor but it is a little bit of tinkering to replace it.
