This is US spec cars.
It is two different ECUs available for the 94 and 95 900 non turbo with the B234I engine.
One is for the cars equipped with SAI (Secondary Air Injection)and the other for cars without.
So a 94 with SAI will have the same ECU as a 95 with SAI and the same scenario with the ones without SAI.
I think that's the case with yours two. Your car is the "other" kind.
I can't say if a non SAI ECU would work on a SAI car (or wise versa) as far as being able to start the car but my gut feeling says that it should work and the only problem would be that the check engine light comes on since the ECU is not coded for the air injection system which is a secondary emission device anyway and not detrimental to the running of the engine.
But as a test, does the car start and run (sometimes) with the old ECU and not START AT ALL with the new ECU. That would be a good test to verify if the ECU is compatible enough to make the car run.
If the new ECU make the car start but you still have the stalling no starting sometimes syndrome, you know the problem lies elsewhere.
I don't know your specific dealer and your relationship with them but problems like this can be difficult to track down and some mechanics don't want to waste time finding the real problem but throws parts at the car until it is up and running again.
It could be the crank shaft position sensor since that one would cut both spark and fuel system.
