I apologize for what will likely be a long first post, but I will describe my situation in as few words as possible.

A friend of mine put my 2000 Viggen in 1st gear at 70 mph 1.5 hours from home, and I ended up getting a head job at a SAAB dealer that I wouldnt normally go to. They didnt think I needed new pistons, and my opinion didnt matter, so I ended up with my heads being refurbed with new valves. After one month and $3000, I got my car back, and immediately got a check engine light. While my local dealer was replacing the Cat that tripped the light, they noticed that my PCV hoses were switched and the pressure was forcing oil through the valve cover gasket. There were a couple of other problems as well (software not updated, intake hose popped off while driving) but I think the main problem was that. WHen the hoses were switched back, the car stopped leaking oil.

A year later, just after the repair warranty was up, I took my car in for a rough idle and a leak down test told me that the car had a valve not sealing correctly. I called SAAB NA and, after much argument and the original repair shop denying having ever performed the job (I faxed SAAB the repair slip), they told me that they would cover the repair if I hadnt over revved the car again. Had the heads pulled off, and sure enough, the marks from the original overrevving are still there (remember that my pistons were not replaced the first time) The single valve that isnt sealing doesnt look bent, just isnt sealing. SAAB says that the marks mean I have overrevved my car again, and dont believe me that this is not the truth, despite having a repair slip in their hands that proves that the pistons werent replaced and there fore should still be marked. So I'm pretty much over a barrel here, my car is taken apart and in a saab shop, and SAAB is making their 'final determination' very slowly right now.

To add to the fun, the dealer has told me that I now probably need a ring job as the cylinder with the bad valve now has excessive play.

So my questions are these:

1. PCV hoses being incorrectly hooked up should cause extra pressure under the valve cover, correct? So could this pressure have caused a valve to seat incorrectly?

2. SAAB says I overrevved the car. I know that I didnt (I remember how expensive it was last time, and have not allowed others to drive the car or downshifted it agressively myself) If the car was overrevved, is it even possible that ONLY ONE valve was damaged? Could valves meet piston and be ok? I know there are marks on at least 3 cylinders because 3 cylinders had zero compression after the incident.

Gotta run, more to follow.
