good question! I am thinking ahead about the same problem, and my son is only 2 right now!!! :-)
When I was 17, my dad got me a 100HP toyota. Being a teenage boy, I definitely "learned" how far cars can be pushed. I guess it's just one of those things. If I had had something like a Viggen, I would probably have crashed it at high speed.
Get a slow Saab, it's a safe car, and make sure to keep the tires and brakes in excellent condition!
If you get a Viggen and limit the boost, I'll bet your son will be tempted to figure out how to get the boost back.
