I have a 2000 9-3 SE HOT. I have now decided that I hate this car. I have had it over a year and have done nothing but repair it and fight oil leaks. Today I did the latest repair. I replaced the main shaft seal and the oil pump o-ring. Although that stopped some of my oil leak woes, it is still leaking. I degreased the engine after the repair so that I could track leaks. It now appears that oil is leaking from around the headgasket by the timing chain cover on the passenger side. The engine had always been damp in this corner, but now it appears to be getting worse and that is where the majority of the oil is leaking from. It moves from this point down the pulley side of the engine and puddles on the oil pan. After a 1/2 hour drive, it dumps out about a tablespoon, and after a week, it starts dropping on the floor. The underside of the car is pretty oily, and that makes me mad. I have re-torqued the head, so it can't be that. The engine isn't overheating or leaking coolant, so the head gasket isn't blown yet. Not sure where to go now.

I have done some reading on this forum about modifications to the crankcase ventilation system and how this could stop oil leaks. Currently, TSB210-2418ed3 mentions a symtom of leaking head gasket in the same corner that I am experiencing. My car doesn't have any ventilation mods to it right now and is stock. Has anyone seen a decrease in oil leaking from doing the prescribed mod? And of course, which mod works? It appears that saab doesn't even know what to do with the ventilation system to make it work correctly. What kind of car is this? I really want to get this taken care of, so can someone shed some light on this ventilation system problem and which steps to take? My indy dealer has been less than helpful and doesn't seem to think that leaking oil is a problem. I disagree, so I am on my own. Please help.
