Re: Brake Pads Posted by SWEDECAR [Email] ![]() ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Brake Pads, Randy Thatcher ![]() ![]() |
Well, it is a reason why the rotors are chewed up, the pads don't last and lots of black dust with OEM pads, they BITE with a vengeance. The car manufacturer have spent gazillions of money to make your car stop as fast and safe as possible and this is the trade off.
All "other" pads WILL have a less bite feel than OEMs due to that they skim over the rotor more than OEM ones creating less dust, and making the rotor and pad last longer.
You compensate that by pushing harder on the brake pedal.
It is also gazillions of brake pads out there so by testing many more you might get one that is a decent compromise.
Reading this and the 9-5 board for years now I have pretty much seen them all being highly recommended by one or more drivers and hated/discarded by the same amount of drivers.
The same pad can actually perform differently if the driver is aggressive or gentle in their driving style so it is no "one pad fits all".
I have put on Satisfied Pro on some Saabs that customers brought in themselfs and it seems that the drivers are happy with them.
Another one seems to be happy with Akebono.
Then you have Roulund, Danblock, Textar, Pagid, Mintex and many more to test.
