Yes, you could/should pull the plugs and check gaps and deposits. Plugs are cheap: BPCR6ES11's
With any running or starting problems, you should always start by reading the plugs. Your miles/year are low, so the chances of plug fouling are greatly increased. You do not need expensive platinum plugs, especially if your driving profile fouls plugs. Platinum plugs are for stable arc gaps over long periods of time. This does not confer any immunity from cold fouling. A bad stat and lower engine operating temps would also contribute to plug fouling. Fouled injectors might be creating or adding to fouling tendancies. Techron Conentrate suggested.
When you are out of warranty, a black DIC failure can burn out the cat and that is very expensive. So going to the new DIC will help you avoid CAT destruction and the old one is a serviceable spare.
I would explore new plugs to explore the implication of plugs with the CEL codes before the DIC swap.
