Been having strange idle behavior for months now. My TB cannot seem to regulate a constant idle speed for more than 10 seconds, the Butterfly blips open and closed incessantly. THis is especially noticeable after opening the throttle. It takes it something like 30 seconds to resettle itself to proper idle, and will not hold it for long. It has trouble when the fan comes on as well.

I have cleaned out the TB and lubricated the (i dont know what these things are technically called) actuator arm under the LHM spring to no avial. I even tried adjusting the throttle cable hoping that perhaps it's lack of taughtness was to blame (which only raised idle speed).

How can I narrow the idle problem down to the fuel system or air intake? I have run several bottles of techron now and got some improvement for a while, but it was most likely a placebo effect.

I must mention that out of first gear the car drives completely normal. Gas mileage is excellent as well as performance. I do notice that the RPMs raise by about 300 or so AFTER I have taken my foot off the gas when I change gears. This is only evident under 2k RPMs though.

What should I be looking for here? If the TB is failing, what part of it fails and/or needs adjustment? Could dirty injectors do this and not effect overall performance while driving? Oh I forgot, in about 3rd gear at low speed when the car is not yet up to temperature I do sometimes feel a slight surge or relinquishment of the throttle, but only while the car is still cold. This idle problem exists independant of temperature...like after 6 hours of driving.

Any suggestions besides suing the words IAC are greatly welcomed!

Thank you
