3 mos or 3,000 miles.... Posted by Mike Lynch [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Need a new clutch on a certified Viggen - any advice?, DaTo, Wed, 19 Oct 2005 14:52:05 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
4,000 miles is plenty of miles to burn out a perfectly good clutch. 4,000 miles is also above and beyond a reasonable amount of mileage to report clutch concerns. If you woulda' been back at the dealer in the first month or 1,000 miles with clutch concerns you still mighta' had difficulties getting it covered under warranty as even 1,000 miles is more than enough time to burn out a clutch too,.... but after 4,000 miles I can understand the dealers denial of coverage.
Got any other legs to stand on? Are you a good customer of the dealer? Do you have or have you had other sticks that haven't needed clutches. Are you the only operator of the car as in no kids or other inexperienced drivers? Will they work with you as in a "50-50" split of the bill or provide the parts if you pay for the labor. It wouldn't be unreasonalble to seek a compromise, but also no warranty coverage is not an indefensible position either for them.
