Thanks for the ideas Dean.
I want to try to avoid tapping into anything for the feed line (the filter housing is a good idea, and I also though about t-ing into the oil cooler line). My most recent thought is to 't' at the oil pressure sender/switch at the back of the engine. It would be good insurance to know whether I'm reducing the pressure too much.
I'm pretty sure I'll just tap into the valve cover for the return line, since I want that clean/cooled oil to be in use ASAP. The VC looks pretty sturdy, and I already had it off to torque the head bolts, so I think I can come up with a decent tap spot. OOOOHHHH, I just had an idea! How about tapping through the rubber plug on the VC gasket! Yeah, that might be the winner.
I had planned on doing as Dean suggested above, where I'll leave a length of hose so that I can remove the filter housing from its' bracket, remove the TP roll, and install new with minimal spillage. There is no ideal spot to mount the thing, so I'm still working on that one.
If I do get it in there, I'll take pics and document the install for anyone else that wants to try. Of course I plan on posting my pre/post install oil analyses and any more that I do in the future.
