Emergency/Paking Brake Issue

So, I've had my Saab for quite some time, and now that I can't garage her anymore, she's had to sleep outside. You would think Saabs being made in Sweden would be almost engineered for the winter weather, but maybe not.
So, it snowed here last night, and temperatures were below 30. Not too bad but still enough to freeze. So here's the problem, whenver I park my car the night or day before it freezes, and I pull my parking brake, somehow the brake freezes. The handle moves, but the brake is still engaged. I can try to drive, reverse and do anything but the thing will not let off.
It happened this morning, so I had to do the usual ritual, get a bucket of hot water and throw it on the rear calipers, and within a minute or two they thaw out. So I've learned to not pull the brake anymore if I think it may freeze.
Does anybody else's car do this? If not what's wrong with mine? Is there any sort of lube I can put on to prevent freezing?
