I would like to try this also. My second "red" ign. cassette is slowly failing after about 70k+ miles (same as the original one which lasted less than 50k and was just barely replaced under warranty).
I would like to make sure I am buying the latest version. The original p/n for the black cassette was 9197559. On the Eeuroparts site, it claims the following:
"We only sell the latest version of this part(p/n 30583218)."
But, according to the parts manager at my dealer, that part number also comes up as obsolete in his computer, and the new part number is 55559955. He does not know if that is a new revision or just a new GM part number (Obviously, he was not going to open a box just so I could read the manufacturing code).
And, the service manager at a different dealer was telling his 9-3 customers that the new black cassettes for the 9-3 recall will not be availably until later this spring...
