I went back to see if I could figure out what was wrong. When cold, the car would onlt start and run briefly, it wouldn't even idle anymore. There didn't appear to be any obvious loose wires. I swapped the DIC, no difference. I messed around with some wires on the back of the engine, from the O2 sensors, etc, no difference. I checked the various vacuum lines and was playing around with the throttle cable where it goes into the throttle body. Suddenly the thing started and responsed to the throttle. I really didn't do anything noteworthy. Now it's running, but it won't idle when cold, you have to keep the revs up a little. Once warm, the idle is bit rough, you can hear occasional misses, and it's idling too high, around 1100 rpm. It revs great and seems to have plenty of power. I swapped the plugs out for good measure, no difference. I left the car at the shop and asked them to pull the codes from the CEL.
