Hey everyone,
After lusting for years, i'm now a part of the Saab family. Purchased a '99 Saab SE HOT w/ 47K Mi. on Saturday. Only issue is a bit of seepage through head gasket, but not consuming any coolant. Very well maintained at Sewell Saab in Dallas (26 times in 7 years!). Called the dealer to get the full history...a bit traumatic. Here's what's been replaced, to the best of my memory.
47K - front bumper / fog light
45K - 3-Way Cat
40K - DI Cassette
38K - SID
35K - ECU
34K - Microprocessor (?)
20K - ECU
15K - CD Player
14K - Microprocessor (?)
12K - Battery
10K - Front Wiring Harness
From that, i'm afraid of electrical gremlins. Any advice on that?
Also, they verified there's been no retorque, and i'm suspicious of what kind of oils been used in the car over the past few months while it's been at a Ford dealership down there. So, i'm going to take the time out this week and change the oil (Mobil 1 5W30, Genuine Saab Oil Filter), and replace the valve cover gasket/torque the head bolts. Is there anything else you'd recommend checking out at this point? Also, do you recommend any engine cleaner to get rid of any potential sludge? Should I retorque or just replace the head bolts? Can anyone recommend a good fuel injector cleaner? And finally, should I use 89 or 91?
Thanks!!!
Chris
