A/C and Temp Gauge Issues

I have an 02 9-3 SE Conv. with 105k miles. My a/c has recently started acting up in that it shifts from cooled air to humid air. The fan blows strong, and this happens only intermittently. Coincidence or not, it seems to happen whenever the temperature gauge is not working (another recent development). Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
