Have you inspected/cleaned the TB? The ECU operates the motorized TB to control idle speed. Perhaps deposits are interfering with its movement.
The PCV fittings, check valves and hoses are OK? That is the typical cause of such smells. Under boost the blowby gas volumes increase. Check all PCV related hoses and trace from block, head, TB and turbo inlet pipe.
Fuel smells from a VAC leak would be impossible at idle. And given the location of the injectors, a leak on boost would have to be at the manifold to head location. You can check that all of the bolts for that are in place. We have seen a few break, but rare.
The hose from the purge valve to the TB can crack or split and that can cause some high idle problems.
Under boost, air would exit through any leaks.
A hose with a flow of propane can be used to probe for a vacuum leak site. Do in a well ventilated area.
