Won't Start - Crank Position Sensor?

I have a '97 900 that won't start. Battery & starter are good; engine chugs just won't fire. Checked the DI cassette by swapping it out with my other '97 900 and this is good too. Having read other postings, it seems like the next thing to check is the Crank Position Sensor. My tach isn't moving when I turn the ignition which some have suggested is symptomatic of the CPS. But, the car didn't have repeated failings when hot -- this was/is a one time event. Is there a high degree of certainty that it's the CPS? The part is a somewhat difficult to get at -- and a little pricey. Don't want to go after the wrong thing if it can be avoided. Assurance/input would be appreciated. One last note: car was in an accident not long ago, but has run fine since body work. Thanks, Dave
