Thank you Anders for the advice, which I will take.
A few more questions though:
I have the lower alternator attachment bolt out and the top bolt loosed, but the alternator won't pivot to facilitate removal of the extended driveshaft bearing holder,...ideas?
Also, when I get the pistons out, I will probably replace the piston rings, but should I gently hone the cylinders and with what grade stones?
I also plan on replacing the chains, guides and balance tensioner while I'm at it.
Lastly, for now, I'm thinking about making a engine hanging apparatus out of Unistrut (atop wood blocks) to place across the engine compartment to hang the motor by it's lifting ring, until it's ready to be lowered to my garage floor. I'm just a little apprehensive about lowering the engine/trans. safely to my garage floor with a trolley jack or jacks.
I hope it's all worth it on a 1995 900S with 140k.
Thanks again,
George M.
