I just got this car a few weeks ago and have been enjoying the fun/practical balance it has. I am a DIY'er for the most part, and so far I have replaced the outer tie-rods, added a GS steering brace, and replaced the stock wheels/snows with aftermarket 16x7's/Kumho SPT's in the stock size. The car just got an alignmnet and had the DIC recall performed at the local dealer. Otherwise stock with 66k on it.
A few things I am trying to diagnose:
When I hit uneven pavement, I get a loose/virating feeling through the steering column. The adjustment lever is in the locked position. The car tracks/handles well, but I supsect the struts/shocks are aging. Upper mounts look fine.
When I first push in the clutch and select first gear, I can feel it in the car (no grinding, but almost like the tranny is not in alignmnet with the shifter rod. Getting into reverse can also be difficult sometimes, but fixed by shifting into fourth and then reverse. I have performed the shifter alignement. Maybe tranny mount?
Last thing is the alignment specs. I have more negative camber (about half a degree additional) on the driver's side (front/rear). Car sits level and tracks fine, just seemed strage since this is not adjustable.
I appreciate the help. Great forum!
