The rad cleaner needs to be removed by a thorough flush with clean water. The rad might not need any such treatment. Look at tube ends through the upper rad hose opening if you can. You can also judge things by looking at how clean the head looks if you have the stat out or larger hose for the heater. When the coolant pump is removed, you can also see into the block a bit.
Aluminum core rads might be sensitive to some cleaners, read the labels. I think that the heater core is brass/copper... but not sure.
At your miles, it would be a good idea to install a new t-stat.
