The oil cooler is where you described.
The combo hose/hard lines from the engine to the cooler are fairly expensive, some people just have a set of custom hoses made in a local shop. Access to the connections at the engine (near the oil filter) can be difficult, because they are so close to the subframe, so I would make sure you have the tools to get to the lines.
Check the power steering fluid level. The first pressure hose from the p/s pump is in the same area, runs down from the pump, out close to the oil cooler lines, and below the radiator, parallel to the oil cooler.
