The red lever behind the folding rear seat will release the tonneau motor when it is pulled. The previous owner of my convertible used it all the time to put the top up and down because something wasn't working right. (This is bad for the motors I hear, I however fixed it myself and it now works fine)-but pulling the lever releases the motor assembly from the long rod that opens the cover. Putting the lever back however, does not reingage the tonneau; you have to remove the carpeting in the trunk and push it back into place (easy.)
