That hose really rots out more than any other, perhaps from heat from the turbo and exhaust. Early NG900's simply had a hose from the TB to the BPV. Later on a solenoid valve on the firewall got into the middle. I don't know the rhyme or reason for that.
The newer BPVs are new P/N from the early ones, first seen on the Viggen and an improvement. The plastic units seem to work very well, but can make silly noises when a MBC or MBC+A are installed which then typically gets fixed with a metal piston type PBV.
Do not vent a PBV directly to atmosphere as it is open at idle or over-run which would ingest unfiltered air. A T5 can use a blow-off valve, a T7 or MAF centric control system really needs to stay with the BPV.
