Had a sudden exhaust leak noise one night. Looking under the car the day after I saw nothing wrong. I had replaced the flex pipe two weeks earlier. I went to the garage but they were booked solid and gave me an appointment the week after. But he took a quick look and said that one of my engine mount was bad. I didin't beleve him and changed the two flex pipe collars (used the old ones at first). The noise was still there.
Went to the garage for my appointment. They put the car up and then called me to have a look. The passenger side engine mount was broken and the engine was sitting on the frame! The driver side mount (transmission mount was worn too).
Now I have a different car. I was used to the engine vibration and to the noise of the transmission made when I changed it to rear position.
My advice? If you have any vibration or noise, repair it. This is an easy DIY project and if you go to the garage this is not that expensive and takes about an hour.
