Well, I finally replaced my driver's side foglight on my '00 Viggen Vert.

The glass face took a rock hit when I was traveling to MD ! I knew from other posts that the whole unit must be replaced not just the face glass.

So, I ordered a new foglight AND some Light Shield Adhesive Lens Protectors.

I only installed the Light Shield foglight protectors for now. They were easy to install: just cleaned both foglight lenses with a denatured alcohol/water solution and applied the protectors. These things are THICK. They looked like they were almost an 1/8" thick! We'll see how they hold up.

Replacing the broken light:
1. Jacked up the driver's side for more working room
2. Removed two 10mm bolts that are at the base of the light.
3. Removed (by prying out) five plastic "anchor" bolts that hold the plastic underbody sheathing together. This sheathing overlaps with the bumper cover and makes it hard to get to the last fastener holding the light in place.
4. Pulled the plastic sheathing out of the way and removed a washer nut holding the light in place. This washer nut is on top left side (looking at face of the light) of the light.
5. Wriggled the light out of position.
6. Removed two cable harnesses. The harness connector for the globe-shaped lightbulb was being difficult until I remembered that I need to PULL the red retainer piece .
7. Removed the retaining bracket that runs along the right side (looking at face of the light) of the light.
8. Installed the retaining bracket on the new light.
9. Plugged in the cable harnesses.
10. Positioned the light in place.
11. Loosely screwed in the two bolts at the base.
12. Positioned the top left bolt and washer on the bumper retaining tab (you'll see it when you remove the light) and tightened.
13. Tightened the two bottom bolts.
14. Turned on the lights and enjoyed the beautiful view!

Unfortunately, the new light face is crystal clear while the old one is someworn and not as clear. Oh well, with the Light Shields on them I shouldn't have to worry about replacing them again!! (knock on wood).

BTW, the foglight was purchased at eeuroparts.com (great price and quick shipping) and the Light Shield Protectors from stateofnine.com (quick shipping)!

Have Fun!

NV
